This Privacy Policy explains how KiddieCommute (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the KiddieCommute parent and driver apps and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this policy.
KiddieCommute is a service for arranging children’s school transport. Accounts are held by parents/guardians and drivers - children do not create accounts. Parents provide their children’s details to arrange rides.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, phone number, email and home address.
- Child details (provided by parents): child’s name, age, school, grade, photo and any medical notes you choose to add, used to arrange and run rides safely.
- Driver details: licence number, vehicle information and compliance documents (e.g. insurance, background check).
- Trip & location data: pickup/drop-off status, ride history, and - during active runs - the driver’s live GPS location so parents can track the ride.
- Payment data: ride-credit top-ups and invoices. Card/mobile-money details are handled by our payment provider; we do not store full payment credentials.
- Device & usage data: app version, basic diagnostics and push-notification tokens.
How we use your information
- To match children to routes and drivers and operate rides.
- To provide live tracking and pickup/drop-off notifications.
- To verify driver compliance and keep rides safe.
- To process ride credits, payments and invoices.
- To provide support and important service messages.
How we share information
We share only what’s needed to run the Service:
- A child’s relevant details and the parent’s contact/handover information are shared with the assigned driver.
- Trip status and the driver’s live location during a run are shared with the child’s parent.
- With service providers (e.g. payment processing, cloud hosting, SMS/push delivery) under appropriate safeguards.
- Where required by law, or to protect the safety of a child or other person.
We do not sell your personal information.
Location data
The driver app shares location only while a run is active, so parents can follow the ride. Parents view this live location in-app. Location sharing stops when the run ends.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal, accounting or safety obligations. You can delete your account at any time (see below).
Deleting your account & data
You can permanently delete your account and associated personal data directly in the app: Profile → Delete account. For full instructions and details of what is removed, see our Account Deletion page. You can also email us to request deletion.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for use by adults (parents/guardians and drivers). Children do not hold accounts. Information about a child is provided by their parent/guardian solely to arrange safe transport, and is shared only with that child’s assigned driver and the parent.
Your rights
You may access, correct or delete your information, and object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, use the in-app controls or contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-app.
